The Star wars Robots have allot of linear actuators and motors to make them move the way we see in the movies, and the grippers were one of the hardest for the movies because they are so small. This was particularly challenging on R2D2 which is already a small Robot and the Gripper even smaller. For this the Lucas Team turned to us for Micro Linear Actuators. Here you can see in the Video the gripper in operation. The same actuators were also used in the Periscope device too just with a longer stroke actuator
