The Hargrove Adaptive Toy (HAT) Project, unveiled its first modified toy car for Emma with Cerebral Palsy

The Hargrove Adaptive Toy (HAT) Project, unveiled its first Engineered Machine for Mobility and Access (EMMA).

Hargrove's adaptive toy cars are practical alternatives for use as training tools.

Multiple adaptations for control can be made to an EMMA in order to meet the needs of each child. Adaptations include controls like hand buttons, switches,a joystick, or head switches, much like the variations available in motorized wheel chairs.

EMMA named in honor of the HAT Project's first recipient, Emma Pablo. She has Cerebral Palsy and requires a joystick controlled vehicle as she only has the mobility of her left hand. The HAT project modified an electric Power Wheels Cadillac Escalade into a simple joystick style control system. It uses a Linear Actuator to control the steering via a joystick as well as the throttle and brake. As you can see this makes life much easier for Emma.

Hargrove is hoping to make this a regular effort to support the mobility limited children in their area and eager to help these amazing families!
